A Message from our Executive Board
While we concede the election, it will not abate our dedication to democratic values, to equity and justice, and to the guarantee of a livable planet. We will continue to raise our voices and exert our power – our ability to accomplish – for the benefit of everyone in our nation and those beyond its borders.
Initially, this will be a period of self-reflection and analyses – both personal and political. Then, we will come back with a renewed commitment to democracy, to good governance by the people and with an invigorated agility to meet whatever challenges face us in the coming years. Together, we will respond with determination, support, and love for one another.
“Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less.” -Marie Curie
The Marina Democratic Club is active in local, state, and national issues, promoting good governance through education, social discourse and support for progressive public policy, candidates and campaigns. We believe that government works best when people get involved, so we work to inform the public and engage with policy-makers to advocate for democratic values.
“Democracy, in the American tradition, has been defined by a simple morality: We Americans care about our fellow citizens, we act on that care and build trust, and we do our best not just for ourselves, our families, and our friends and neighbors, but for our country, for each other, for people we have never seen and never will see.”
–George Lakoff and Glenn W. Smith
